Before you sign for four years
Try an electric car before you commit
Thanks, your enquiry is in.
We’ll pass your details to a suitable rental partner from our panel, and they’ll be in touch about what they can offer. As an introducer we don’t supply the vehicle ourselves, and there’s nothing more you need to send us right now, we’re not asking for any documents at this stage.
Nothing is agreed until you deal directly with the supplier and you’re happy to go ahead.

Yes, you can hire an electric car for a few months rather than committing to one for years. A short-term hire lets you find out how an EV actually fits your driving, your parking and your charging setup before you sign a long agreement, which a twenty-minute test drive cannot tell you.
- No credit check to get a quote
- Flexible terms, 1 to 48 months
- All credit welcome

Almost everything that decides whether an EV works for you happens outside the showroom. Whether you can charge at home, what your real range looks like in February, how often you actually need a rapid charger, whether the boot takes the pram and the dog. A test drive answers none of that. A few months with the car answers all of it, and if the answer turns out to be no, you have learned it without a four-year agreement attached.
What a few months tells you that a test drive cannot
Real range, for a start. Manufacturer figures are measured in ideal conditions, and a cold motorway run in January looks nothing like a mild urban commute. Living with the car through a few weeks of ordinary driving gives you your number, not a brochure number.
Then the practical things: whether your home charger is genuinely convenient or a nuisance, what public charging near you is actually like, how the running costs land against the petrol car it replaces, and whether the car fits your life rather than your intentions.
What to work out while you have it
Keep a rough note of a few things and the decision makes itself. What the car really returns in the cold. How often you charge, and where. Whether you ever came close to being caught out. What it costs you a month all in, against what you were spending before.
It is also worth trying the journeys you do rarely but cannot avoid, the trip to family, the airport run, the long site visit. Those, not the daily commute, are what people find frustrating about an EV that is slightly too small for their life.
And if it is not for you?
Then you have found out cheaply, which is the whole point. Hand it back at the end of the term and go back to petrol, hybrid or something larger with nothing to sell and no early-exit conversation.
If it does suit, you will know exactly which range, which charging setup and which size of car you actually need, which is a far better position to negotiate a long agreement from than a showroom visit and a hunch.

Common questions
How long should I hire an EV for to really know?
Long enough to see cold weather and a few of your less usual journeys. Three months is usually enough to form a firm view; a month tells you a lot but may flatter the car if the weather is kind.
Is home charging installation included?
No, that is arranged separately and is yours to organise. Worth checking what your parking allows before you start, because it is usually the single thing that decides whether an EV suits.
Can I switch to a different electric model partway?
Sometimes, depending on the partner and the terms. If you are genuinely undecided between two sizes it is worth saying so at the quote stage rather than after.
Is the electricity or public charging included?
Normally not, and it varies by partner, so ask what is and is not covered before you agree. Charging costs are usually yours, in the same way fuel would be.
What credit history do I need?
All credit is welcome and there is no credit check to get a guide quote. The partner we introduce you to may run their own checks before a hire, and only with your permission.
