Young drivers hit two walls at once: no credit history to speak of, and finance lenders who treat that as risk. Short-term hire sidesteps the first wall, because there is no long credit agreement to underwrite, and our partners take a fairer view of drivers at the start of their journey.

No credit history is not the same as bad credit

If you are 19 and have never had a loan or card, finance scoring often has nothing to go on and defaults to "decline". Hire is judged on affordability and ID instead, so a thin or empty credit file is far less of an obstacle. You are not being punished for being young, just matched to a partner who understands it.

Insurance is the bigger cost to plan for

For most young drivers, insurance, not the hire itself, is the larger number, and it is arranged separately. We are upfront about that so there are no surprises: factor your insurance quote in alongside the monthly hire cost when you work out your budget.

Is there a minimum age?

It depends on the partner and the vehicle; many start at 21, some lower. We will match you to one whose age policy fits.

Does insurance come with it?

Usually no, young-driver insurance is arranged separately and is often the bigger cost, so budget for it alongside the monthly.
